Scientific Publications on Trocar Wound Closure

Herniation into the trocar site is a relatively common complication of laparoscopic surgery. In cases involving the use of 10 or 12 mm trocars, an incidence of 0.23 to 3.1 percent has been reported.1 Port-site herniation even occurs with 5 mm trocars, particularly following lengthy procedures involving extensive manipulation.2

Port-site herniation can be prevented by closing all trocar wounds with the Carter-Thomason CloseSure® System.

The following is a list of general scientific publications on full-thickness closure of trocar wounds. You can access the abstract or a summary of a publication by clicking on the title.
